Is a celebrant ceremony in Thailand legally binding?

A celebrant-led ceremony in Thailand is symbolic. Most international couples complete the legal registration in their home country before or after the ceremony. I'll walk you through the options and, where useful, the local district office process in Phuket.

How far in advance should we book?

Accepted Answer

Peak season runs November through April and the best venues and photographers book early. Six to nine months out is comfortable; I do also take shorter-notice elopements when the diary allows.

Do you write the ceremony script?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every ceremony is written from scratch around the couple. You may already have ideas on what you'd like to say to each other — and to help, I send across three full wedding ceremony examples to read through. Cherry-pick the lines that feel right, choose one outright, or start from a blank page. Short or long, traditional or unconventional — anything is possible. We work on it together as the day approaches, refining to a final version you're both happy with.

Can you officiate same-sex ceremonies?

Absolutely. I've delivered many same-sex ceremonies across Phuket. The structure, language and readings are written to reflect the couple in front of me.

Do you travel outside Phuket?

Accepted Answer

Yes — Phang Nga, Krabi, Koh Yao and further afield in Thailand. Travel arrangements are confirmed during planning.

Question 6

What is your role on the day?

Accepted Answer

I arrive early, coordinate with your planner and photographer, manage the processional, deliver the ceremony, and — if booked — continue as MC through the reception.

What does the ceremony fee include?

Accepted Answer

Pre-wedding consultation, a personally written ceremony script with revisions, coordination with your planner and photographer, and delivery on the day. MC services are an optional add-on.

Can guests participate in the ceremony?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Readings, sand ceremonies, ring warmings, hand-fastings and quiet acknowledgements of family members are all common. We agree what fits during planning.

How long does the ceremony itself run?

Accepted Answer

Usually 25 to 35 minutes. Longer if there are multiple readings or rituals; shorter for elopements.

Do you travel to Khao Lak for weddings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. I regularly travel to Khao Lak and the wider Phang Nga coast for beach and resort ceremonies. Travel fees are quoted on enquiry based on date, venue and timing.

Do you travel to Koh Samui for weddings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. I cover Koh Samui and the Gulf islands when the diary allows. Travel and overnight costs are quoted transparently once I have your date and venue.

Do you travel to Krabi for weddings?

Yes — Krabi, Railay and Ao Nang are all comfortable to reach from Phuket. I'll send a clear travel quote with your ceremony proposal.

Do you travel to Koh Yao for weddings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai are firm favourites — boat transfers and timings are coordinated with your planner or resort, and travel fees confirmed up front.

What should the bride and groom wear for a beach ceremony?

Accepted Answer

Whatever the two of you have planned and agreed on together — there are no strict rules. Lightweight fabrics work well in the heat, and many couples go barefoot on the sand. Comfort and how you want to feel in the photos matter more than convention.

Can you accommodate elderly or disabled guests at beach ceremonies?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Most of the beaches and venues I work at have straightforward access. A chair in the ceremony setup can easily be swapped for a wheelchair, and we plan the processional route and seating with any mobility needs in mind. Just let me know during planning so it's organised quietly in advance.

Do you offer pet-inclusive ceremonies?

Yes — dogs as ring-bearers, walking down the aisle, or simply present for the moment are all welcome. We agree the role and timing during planning so it runs smoothly on the day.

Is tipping expected?

Accepted Answer

No. Tipping is not expected or required. The ceremony fee covers everything we agree during planning.
